ABSORB-tech™ coating
The light-absorbing coating for precise scan results
With the ABSORB-tech™ coating, we have developed an innovative surface solution specifically for use on scan bodies (also known as scanning bodies or scan abutments). This highly effective coating reduces light reflections almost completely, creating ideal conditions for precise digital impressions in dental practices and dental laboratories.
Due to their high degree of reflectivity, titanium surfaces cause significant light scattering. Particularly in optical scanning procedures using digital intraoral scanners, this can lead to signal interference and artefacts. This complicates data acquisition and requires time-consuming post-processing.

ABSORB-tech™ combines a dark base characteristic with a tubular microstructure within the coating layer. These microscopic, light-absorbing structures act as optical “light traps”. Incident ambient light is not reflected but is repeatedly refracted within the structure and effectively absorbed. The result is a significant reduction in spectral back reflection, enabling sharp and detailed surface representations in the scan. Thanks to the minimal coating thickness of approximately 8µm, the fit accuracy of the scan bodies is not affected and the mechanical properties of the base material remain unchanged. Partial coatings are also available on request.
