Polishing of surfaces
High-gloss results with technical added value
With our modern systems, we can polish medical instruments and implants made of different materials to a high gloss. This finishing process is used to refine the surface structure by levelling out roughness peaks, which are responsible for a matt appearance.
This process not only optimises the visual appearance, but also improves the functional properties. A polished surface is used in medical technology for several reasons: on the one hand, it makes cleaning much easier as foreign substances adhere less strongly. On the other hand, micro burrs can be removed and the overall aesthetic appearance can be raised to a high level. A smooth surface is particularly important for implants and surgical instruments in order to minimise friction and ensure better biocompatibility. Despite the intensive processing, only minimal material removal is achieved during polishing, which preserves the shape and function of the component.
