MEDI-Plug® & CASING

Short insertion time – long-lasting effect

We generally insert the ART-tech® colour-coding elements in our customers’ components for them. However, for a variety of reasons, it may be in the customers’ interest to perform the colour-coding themselves. For example, in order to minimise the logistics requirements, as components are disproportionately heavy or extremely sensitive. We developed the do-it-yourself products MEDI-Plug® & CASING for exactly these types of cases.

MEDI-Plug® & CASING are prefabricated coloured cylinders made from the coloured ceramic ART-tech®. This sophisticated concept allows the customer to insert the colour-coding elements into prepared holes. ART-tech® is an extremely resilient coloured ceramic developed by Viktor Hegedüs for the colour-coding of products. The high-quality, biocompatible material is used to produce a customised colour design on metal ensuring there is never any confusion. All the MEDI-Plug® and CASING colour versions are available as a block colour or complemented with numbers, symbols, logos or data matrix codes.

MEDI-Plug®

Customised colour-coding

Use of the MEDI-Plug® allows quick and simple marking of components. The spectrum of colours offers a wide range of possibilities and solutions for customised colour-coding. The ART-tech® process employed has been satisfying the high demands of medical technology and industrial applications for many years now already.

MEDI-Plug® is biocompatible and also presents no cytotoxic risk. The high-quality ceramic material boasts high adhesion, impact and abrasion resistance and allows the MEDI-Plug® to become one with the component in which it is inserted. If required, the inserted MEDI-Plug® can also be ground flush with the surface of the component.

CASING

The resilient colour-coding element encased in metal

The protective metal casing allows CASING to sit even more securely in the component. The metal ring serves as a guide during the insertion process and also adds a special visual highlight. Thanks to the adapted fit, an inserted CASING has a retention force of up to 200 Nm.

The BEVELED CASING is a special form of CASING. With an additional protective edge, it protrudes slightly from the surface of the component. This protective edge prevents the BEVELED CASING from slipping through thin components. This can be advantageous in medical instrument trays, for example.

Manufacturing process

Quality right from the beginning

Following clamping of the workpiece, the first step is to drill a hole in it. The MEDI-Plug® or CASING is then pressed into the prepared hole, leaving it securely in position in the workpiece. ZuNo additional materials such as adhesives are required. Custom and permanent do-it-yourself colour-coding is therefore possible in just a few working steps.
