The HEGEDÜS company

From a hobby inventor from Southwest Germany to a hidden champion

Company founder Viktor Hegedüs comes from a family of retailers from Wehingen in Baden-Württemberg. Instead of taking over his parents’ shop as planned, he preferred to complete an apprenticeship with a relay manufacturer at a young age. He was fascinated by the new technology and systems he learnt there. After completing his apprenticeship, he began working for a stainless steel nut production company and quickly realised that his many innovative ideas needed their own environment.

Viktor Hegedüs founded his company in 1980 at the age of 25. He initially produced sleeves and flat nuts for proximity switches. At the same time, he sought out niche areas and was one of the first in the region to specialise in titanium.

Medical technology quickly became aware of the young company, which was characterised by the highest precision in production technology, clever innovations and practical solutions.

Viktor Hegedüs and his team identified problems and developed the corresponding solutions.

Today, the successful company is run in the second generation by his son Adrian Hegedüs. The professional surface finishing of titanium is one of Hegedüs’ core competencies. This large portfolio is successfully complemented by the patented colour-coding system ART-tech® and by numerous services for surface finishing as well as the production of titanium jewellery in the company’s own manufactory.

Progress and evolution – this is our story

  • 1980

    Foundation of the company

    On 01.07.1980, Viktor Hegedüs founds his own company and begins to produce nuts, turned parts and special parts.

  • 1984

    GmbH

    The company changes its legal form and becomes a GmbH (private limited company). It now focuses on manufacturing threaded sleeves and corresponding nuts.

  • 1994

    Innovation Prize

    Following its successful product launch, the FIXATOR is awarded the Innovation Prize by the Sparkasse savings bank.

  • 1997

    Titanium jewellery

    Viktor Hegedüs begins producing titanium jewellery and establishes a new surface processing centre of excellence.

  • 1998

    Titanium anodising

    The installation of the first in-house anodising system signifies the start of the colouring of titanium.

  • 2002

    Medical technology

    The production facilities are extended and the medical technology department relocated to a separate floor. The workforce grows to 30 people.

  • 2005

    ART-tech®

    The ART-tech® business area develops.

  • 2009

    ISO certification

    Viktor Hegedüs GmbH’s medical technology department is successfully certified in accordance with the EN ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality management standards.

  • 2015

    Titanium anodising expanded

    This year sees the installation and commissioning of the new TYP-II anodising system.

  • 2016/2017

    Adrian Hegedüs joins

    Adrian Hegedüs joins his father’s company and is appointed Managing Director one year later.

    The investment in two laser systems for the prototype department now also permits engraving of workpieces and components.

  • 2018

    Automated measuring

    In cooperation with Jenoptik and erler GmbH automation.robotik, an inspection performed completely by robot control with the FIXATOR’S help is presented for the very first time.

    The administration building is completely modernised.

  • 2019

    Quality assurance expanded

    As a result of the continuous growth, the space available for the quality assurance department is expanded and new testing equipment for the in-house laboratory acquired.

  • 2020

    40th anniversary of the company

    The company celebrate its 40th anniversary and the company founder Viktor Hegedüs simultaneously says his goodbyes and leaves to enjoy his well-earned retirement.

  • 2022

    State-of-the-art cleaning technology

    In order to meet the increasing demands of our customers for component cleanliness, we have invested in an automated and modern cleaning system. The new facility has already been put into operation following comprehensive qualification.

  • 2024

    Expansion of production capacities

    In 2024, we laid the foundation for a successful future: We are expanding our existing production and office spaces by more than 2,000 sqm.

  • 2026

    HEGEDÜS moves into new building

    Following an intensive planning and construction phase, we have successfully moved into our new building and officially put the new premises into operation.
