The HEGEDÜS company
From a hobby inventor from Southwest Germany to a hidden champion
The company’s founder, Viktor Hegedüs, was born into a family of shopkeepers in Wehingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg. However, instead of taking over the family business as planned, he spent his younger years completing an apprenticeship at a relay manufacturer. The technology and systems he encountered and explored there fascinated him and left a lasting impression. After completing his vocational training, he took a position in a company producing stainless steel nuts and soon realised that his numerous innovative ideas needed an environment of their own.
In 1980, at the age of 25, Viktor Hegedüs founded his own company. His new company started off life producing sleeves and thin nuts for proximity switches. At the same time, he was always on the lookout for niche markets and was one of the first in the region to focus his efforts on titanium.
The young company with its ultimate precision in production technology, smart innovations and practical solutions soon came to the attention of the jewellery and medical technology industries.
Viktor Hegedüs and his team identified problems and developed the corresponding solutions.
For example, during a visit to the dentist, Viktor Hegedüs noticed that the dental nurse repeatedly passed the dentist the wrong drill bit as she couldn’t easily distinguish the minor size differences. He quickly identified the issue and came up with the ART-tech® colour-coding system made from resilient coloured ceramic.
Today, the successful company is run in the second generation by his son Adrian Hegedüs. In addition to the production of high-quality sleeves and turned parts, the professional surface treatment of titanium (colour anodising, dark anodising and Recolor technology) is also one of the main services offered by Hegedüs. This large portfolio is successfully complemented by the patented colour-coding system ART-tech® and by numerous services for surface finishing as well as the production of titanium jewellery in the company’s own manufactory.
